Baby, Mommy and Great Grandmother

I asked Amy if I could come by and take photos of her beautiful grandmother and children after passing by them in the aisle of the grocery store. I don’t make it a habit of asking complete strangers if I can come into their homes and photograph them, but after witnessing the interaction and love between her grandmother and children, I couldn’t shake the tug to ask her.
I am so so glad she said yes. The few hours I was able to spend in their home was enlightening and inspiring. Grandma is a women who, while in her presence, you feel like a better person. She had not remembered meeting me in the grocery store, and at times from just moments earlier she would forget who I was, but still upon meeting me, she was delighted and loving, every time. She embraced me like I was a grandchild and with that I instantly knew of her love and the goodness she has, and continuously does to contribute to this world.
We talked about her Birthday (It was her Birthday!! How perfect!!) and her grandchildren, and how Amy was the most wonderful woman in the world for helping her throughout the day. Amy told stories of service Grandma had done over her life, including hosting large Thanksgivings, year after year, for anyone and everyone that didn’t have somewhere else to go.
What a pleasure it was to take these photos! Thank you Amy for letting a stranger into your home to take these photos!
Why don’t more people get portraits done of their Parents and Grandparents? It really is a shame. Don’t miss this small moment in life to get photographs taken with your Parents or Grandparents. I’m in Utah for a few more months, contact me and let’s get these done for you and your family!

amy grace - this is just so special. these moments are everything…the little things begin to feel huge as we realize how fleeting they are. amazing job.

Kati Decker - This is so cute! I love the images. You did an amazing job with this session! I’ve found the elderly don’t seem to want their photos taken and I feel like those are the only people I really want to take portraits of! So much history and stories in those eyes and faces. I love it!
