In just a little more than 3 months we will be living just hours from my 2 of my favorite places ever. I can only imagine how wonderful it will be to say, “We don’t have anything this weekend, why don’t we go camping at the beach tonight?” or “You have the week off? Let’s go visit Uncle Greg and make Jacob give us one of his grand tours of Portland.” Oh my, heaven.
Cannon Beach, have you been there? It is pure peace, it is pure heaven. It is light jackets, mist, and a cool breeze. It is walking 3 hours down the beach to try and find more sand dollars than anyone else, it is thousands of star fish at haystack rock, and re-enacting scenes from the goonies. Cannon beach is a lawn chair and a great summer read, it is a sand castle you build all day, it is sand in every crevice and nook of your toes and hands and shorts and not giving a hoot about it.
I know some are drawn to the beaches of california or hawaii, with sunburns and surfing and sunglasses. Not me, I’ll take a summer full of sand dollars and mist and pure heaven any day.
